The Woman Who Does It All: Why You Deserve a Solo Wellness Retreat – Week 1
Issue #1 Wellbeing For Women: A journal with Terry
Hello Beautiful Souls,
As we celebrate the strength, resilience, and beauty of women around the world this International Women’s Day, I want to take a moment to honor you. Whether you’re a mother, a professional, a caregiver, or someone who wears countless hats every day, you embody the spirit of what this day represents.
Today, I invite you to pause and reconnect with your own wellbeing. As women, we often pour so much of ourselves into others, but it is essential to remember that we must fill our own cups first to truly shine. Let us begin this journey together, one step at a time, with a focus on nurturing ourselves so that we can continue to give from a place of abundance.
The Many Hats We Wear
As women, we wear multiple hats every single day. We are mothers, businesswomen, household managers, caregivers, and problem solvers – all rolled into one.
From early morning school runs to business meetings, meal planning, and ensuring everyone’s needs are met, our days are filled with responsibilities. While we take pride in being the glue that holds everything together, the truth is, we cannot pour from an empty cup.
I know this firsthand. As a mother of two, I am not just a parent. To name a few – I am a household manager, a meal planner, a shopper, a cook, a life coach for my kids, their motivator, problem solver, counsellor, healer, caregiver, comforter, chauffeur, homework assistant, a project manager for their school projects, a mediator now and then when sibling rivals shows its ugly head😊.
Beyond my role at home, I am also building Life with Terry, not as a side hustle, but as a purpose-driven business created to heal, restore, enlighten and awaken the masses, helping people live fulfilling lives. I am also a friend, a daughter, a cousin and a sibling.
The Importance of Prioritizing Our Wellbeing
With all these roles, I have learned that prioritizing my wellbeing is not a luxury. It is a necessity. I deserve moments of rest, time to restore my energy, reset, heal, and receive the same care and service I give to others.
It is only when I fill my own cup that I will be able to continue to pour into the lives of those I love and serve. That is why I have made it a priority to embrace what I call a Solo wellness retreat.
We all play different roles in life, and while my journey as a mother has shown me the importance of prioritizing my wellbeing, I know this truth applies to everyone, no matter their responsibilities. Just as mothers juggle endless tasks at home, professionals in the workplace face their own set of demands.
From back-to-back meetings to tight deadlines, decision-making, and managing teams, the pressures of work can be relentless. Whether you are an employee striving to meet expectations, a manager juggling responsibilities, or an executive carrying the weight of leadership, you pour so much of yourself into your work every single day. But the truth is, you cannot pour from an empty cup.
After long hours of problem-solving, leading, strategizing, and supporting others, you also deserve time to reset, restore your energy, and nurture your own wellbeing.
That’s why you also deserve a Solo Wellness Retreat to recharge, reflect, and realign. When you take care of yourself, you will show up as your best self in every aspect of your life.
And we are not leaving out the beautiful women who are studying—whether you’re in your first year, pursuing your honours, working on your masters, or deep in your PhD. You, too, need a solo wellness retreat. Taking time away to nurture your wellbeing is not a luxury; it’s a necessity for growth, clarity, and balance.
Give yourself permission to pause. Your mind, body, and soul will thank you.
The Solo Wellness Retreat: A Time for You
I follow and live by two types of Solo Wellness Retreats: a short daily retreat and a longer, more immersive retreat. The short solo wellness retreat consists of simple, yet effective activities that can be seamlessly incorporated into your daily routine.
The long solo wellness retreat, on the other hand, requires setting aside dedicated time, whether a full day or half a day, to fully disconnect and recharge.
Today, I’ll be focusing on the short solo wellness retreat.
Here are steps and activities you can do for your short daily Solo Wellness Retreat:
