Do You Have the Abilities Essential for Creating a Fulfilling Partnership?

Explore the foundational abilities that shape meaningful and lasting partnerships
The first important word to understand in a life partnership is “ability.” The big question is: Do you have the abilities required to enter into and create a fulfilling partnership?
This word is one of the most essential building blocks in my teachings at Life with Terry. It forms the foundation of everything we explore – from personal to social and professional wellbeing.
The next big question I have for you is this: Before you entered into your relationship, did anyone ever sit you down and teach you about the importance of studying:
- The meaning and power of a human being’s physical and non-physical (spiritual) attributes.
- The essential physical and spiritual attributes required to build great, healthy and meaningful relationships.
- The dangerous spiritual attributes you must be aware of in a relationship.
If your answer is no, or even if you are unsure, you are not alone. Most people enter relationships without understanding these essential human attributes.
Fortunately, this article, and the ones that follow, are for you. Together, we will explore the abilities and qualities that form the foundation of a fulfilling partnership.
Awareness of the essential abilities for a fulfilling partnership allows partners to consciously acquire, develop, or heal the qualities that create harmony, growth, and deep connection.
In this article I will be focusing on the meaning of “ability” as defined for purposes of LwTee Life Partnership Blueprint. In the next article we will unpack the essential physical attributes for building a fulfilling partnership.
The meaning of the word “ability”
In my work as a teacher and life coach, I have come to deeply appreciate the word “ability.” Over time, I have expanded its meaning by identifying what I believe are the essential building blocks that truly define and embody this word. What I love about this definition is that it forces to pay great attention to who you are.
The word ability means possession of the means to do something. Our abilities include the following:
- Skills – your ability to do an activity or job well especially because you have practised it.
- Talent – a natural skill or ability to be good at something, especially without being taught.
- Gift / gifted – having a special ability passed on to you from your family lineage (parents or grandparents or great grandparents or ancestors).
- Physical attributes – these are your visible or tangible characteristics that can be observed, measured, or touched with the physical senses. They include: height, weight, skin tone, hair texture and color, eye shape and color, voice tone, posture, facial features, body structure, physical and mental fitness and so forth.
- Non-physical attributes or spiritual attributes -these are your invisible, energetic, or inner qualities that make up our character, soul essence and emotional-spiritual presence. They are not seen with the physical eyes, but felt, perceived and known intuitively. They include: personality traits (e.g., kindness, patience, confidence), values and beliefs, energy or vibe, consciousness and awareness level, emotional intelligence, spiritual gifts or sensitivities, moral compass or integrity, creative essence or unique expression and the aura or energetic field. Your energy is your ability to attract and repel aura. Your aura is your distinctive or unique energy that you release from your Self. Self is your physical, spirit & soul persons. Your aura is the manifestation of your inner and outer persons. Your aura is the collective energy that is surrounding you all the time. Your aura is so unique in that you will never find anyone, that emits the same aura as yours, including members of your family lineage.
- Knowledge – understanding of or information about a subject that you get by experience or study, either known by one person or by people generally.
- A positive & healed family ground we were born into – your family ground includes the circumstances you were born into that will enable you to achieve your professional, personal and social goals. Beyond inheriting physical and spiritual attributes, some of us are born into families that have built legacies that place us in a better position to navigate life in general. It is very important for all of us to familiarise ourselves with the family ground we were born into.
- Financial and non- financial resources.
- Non-financial resources include:
- Place of residence – Includes the physical location, neighbourhood, or home environment (even the ability to work from home or host gatherings).
- Transportation – A car, bicycle, access to public transport, or proximity to a walking route.
- Digital devices – Laptop, smartphone, printer, camera, or audio recording device.
- Internet access – Reliable Wi-Fi or data to attend webinars, apply for jobs, research, or connect globally.
- Workspace – A desk, table, or dedicated area for work, study, or creation.
- Tools & equipment – Any item that supports your profession or passion (e.g., sewing machine, paintbrushes, kitchen tools, books, ring light).
- Wardrobe or clothing – Professional or creative attire that supports confidence and alignment with one’s career identity.
- Library or books – Personal collection or access to reading material that informs or inspires.
- Printed materials – CVs, flyers, business cards, journals, notebooks.
- Access to facilities – A local library, community center and so forth.
- Support network – The people, communities and professionals who offer emotional, spiritual, mental or practical support. This includes: family members, friends, neighbours, mentors, life coaches, therapists, spiritual advisors or faith leaders, support groups (in-person or online), healing circles, professional networks or associations, teachers, guides, accountability partners, spirit guides, guardian angels, family ancestors, sources of intelligence and so forth.
- Experience – the process of getting knowledge or skill from doing, seeing or feeling things.
- Qualifications – an official record showing that you have finished a training course or have the necessary skills.
- Formal education – the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university.
- Informal education – the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction outside a school or university.
- Self-taught expertise – Self-taught expertise is the mastery and deep understanding one acquires through personal experience, disciplined curiosity, intuitive learning, and lived practice outside of formal systems or traditional qualifications. It is the kind of knowledge that comes from: Walking the path, not just reading the map; listening to Spirit and inner wisdom; making mistakes, evolving, and returning wiser; immersing yourself in what calls your soul, not just what fills a curriculum. It is not less than formal education. It is a different kind of valuable education
- Calling – a strong desire to do a job, usually one that is socially valuable.
- Passion – an extreme interest in or wish for doing something, such as a hobby, activity.
- As mentioned in the article create and live a fulfilling life, happiness is at the center of experiencing a fulfilling life. Sadly, it is not a guarantee that everyone who has the ability to pursue and accomplish life goals will automatically enjoy the journey and the fruits of their life goals. For happiness to be enjoyed, it must be received and experienced at a frequency that enables our feelings to fully manifest the happiness energy. In Principles & Tools of Creation, I mention that happiness is a pure energy that is available to serve.
How happiness gets experienced is dependent on the ground on which it lands. The ground in this case is the entire aura or energy field of a human being. I also discuss in the book, the tools that one can use to clear the blockages that make it difficult or impossible to experience pure energy.
Different people may receive happiness but will experience it at different levels, with some not being able to experience it at all. Consequently there is a need to assess and develop the ability to receive and experience happiness for some people. Some people will need to undergo therapy to address the inability to be happy.
The ability to receive, experience and feel is an important building block.
The last part of the meaning of the word “ability” is very critical. It also speaks to the definition of being fulfilled. The word fulfilled does not only refer the “feel good, happy and healthy” side of things. Unfortunately, life is going to throw challenges at us. It is part of life. How we address the challenges and how we go through the challenges and what we become after the challenges is part of wellness. When we speak fulfillment, we don’t mean that we live a life without challenges. It also means that when we go through challenges.:
- we have the abilities to find creative and innovative ways to address the challenges, effectively & efficiently in our personal, social and professional lives.
- we have the abilities to go through the challenges, remain stronger until we exit the challenging phase.
- we have the abilities to discern and avoid similar challenges in future.
In the next article I will focus on essential physical and non-physical attributes that each partner must have to create and experience a fulfilling partnership.
Take your time, explore and discover your abilities.
